The city that never sleeps is perfect for night owls like me. Also known as the Big Apple and for so many who call it home, the Center of the Universe. New York City is a bustling, vibrant, and diverse city that shocks all the senses. From first seeing the iconic skyline to hearing the yellow cabs’ honking horns and smelling stinky garbage on the sidewalk in the summer heat to having a cheesy bite of a New York pizza slice, New York is a full sensory experience. There are so many things to do in this spectacular city. You can catch a game at Yankee Stadium in the Boogie Down Bronx, no pun intended, or hear the Piano Man at Madison Square Garden…I missed him by a day but my family and I got to listen to one of my favorite bands, AJR, perform there. You can also spend a night at the museum, The American Museum of Natural History that is, or grab a Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog at Coney Island. This city has it all. New York is a city of juxtapositions. In the middle of the urban sprawl of New York City lies an oasis. Nestled in the heart of New York, Central Park, is a calming withdrawal from the hustle and bustle of this metropolis. Whether you’re looking to take a stroll, go for a run, or have a picnic on the lush green grass, Central Park is a peaceful escape for both locals and tourists alike. New York City is home to the wealthy and the poor, artists and professionals, Americans and immigrants; it is historic yet modern, old and new, cultural and economic. New York is a unique city that holds a special place in my heart. My mom grew up about 30-60 minutes outside of the city and went to college there, so we visit often, always finding something new to explore. I give New York City 5/5 stars.
