⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5
I haven’t seen Erin in 9 years, but there are some friends you pick right up with like there have been no years. I enjoyed gorgeous mountain views on route 7 for the drive to see her in Vergennes. Erin had a baby 2 months ago named Jasper (who I keep wanting to call Jackson) and already has a 4 year old, Jonah. Jasper is adorable: tiny head with a poof of hair. Holding a baby sent me right back to holding Ella and patting her back. How can it be that 12 years have passed? Erin is so funny. She told me about how, this spring when she was pregnant, she had the worst morning sickness and would go to her co-worker’s classroom to throw up in her trash can, then get right back to teaching. And only Erin would say, somewhat randomly, and with such certainty, “I think if I met Taylor (Swift), she’d want to be my friend; we’d be friends.” I said, “Of course! You both like cats.” Then we burst out laughing. Old friends are, sometimes, the best kind of friends because they knew you before (in this case, the young women we were before the babies); that part of you that you do not want to leave behind just because you have children. You don’t want to leave behind that special kind of laughter you share with that friend, either. I can’t wait to see Erin again.
